England: Day 7

If I had to guess, I’d say we walked 20 miles today and now we are exhausted!!!!! This morning we got up and headed down to Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Official Birthday parade, “Trooping the Colours”. While her actual Birthday is in April, the Queen’s “official” birthday is celebrated every June to commemorate her 58 years as queen. After the parade we grabbed a quick bite for lunch and heading to the Tower of London. I had no idea the Tower was so huge! I thought it was just one tower, but it is actually made up of 20 different towers. Next on our sightseeing list was the Tower bridge, which many people mistake for London Bridge. After crossing both the London and Tower bridges we headed back to our little “home” neighborhood for dinner at an Italian restaurant called Mario’s, which apparently is where Princess Diana used to take her boys to at eat a lot. Now we are exhausted and staying in the rest of the night instead of participating in World Cup parties, because we have to get up early for our Stonehenge day trip tomorrow.

Pictures of Trooping the Colour:

Waiting to see the Queen!
We got there late and weren't able to find spots on the Mall (the street the parade was coming down), but we did get to stand across from the Palace and were able to see the Royals from there.

The Queen is one of the tiny dots on the red balcony.

One of the six fly overs.

Tower of London:
There are actually 20 towers.

Our poor tour guide had a massive group .

There are actually people living in the tower today.
All of their houses were marked with blue doors.

The white house in the back used to be a royal residence inside the tower
and the circular spot infront is where Anne Boleyn was put to death.

The Crown jewels are inside there!! We saw so many sparklie, expensive things!!!
Including the largest uncut diamond in the world!!!!

One of the crowns we saw. I think Queen Elizabeth wore this one at her corination.
(we weren't allowed to take pictures of the jewels so I took a picture of a postcard Haha)

White Tower.

Trying on a helmet.

Us infront of Tower Bridge.

Tower Bridge. Not London Bridge.

That was some good ice cream!!

They have these elephants everywhere and each one is decorated differently. This kid decided to make it into a slide.

London Bridge is pretty boring.

Us on London Bridge.

Waiting for dinner at Mario's!
